Edmonton announced as the official host of Rendez-vous Canada 2024

Ottawa, ON (June 2, 2023) –  Destination Canada and the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) are excited to announce Edmonton as the official host of Rendez-vous Canada (RVC) 2024.

Celebrating its 47th year, RVC is Canada’s premier marketplace for the tourism industry. The signature event enables the Canadian tourism industry to connect with international buyers as well as key travel trade media.

“Events like RVC have never been more important to our industry, shining a global spotlight on Canada and creating meaningful opportunities for destinations and businesses across the globe. Next year, we’ll be bringing RVC 2024 to Edmonton, Alberta’s capital. We’re confident delegates will enjoy exploring and learning more about this vibrant urban centre in the heart of stunning Canadian wilderness,” said Marsha Walden, President and CEO of Destination Canada.

“We’re excited to join forces with Explore Edmonton and Travel Alberta to host RVC 2024,” said Beth Potter, President and CEO TIAC. “United in our mission to return the Canadian tourism industry to pre-pandemic levels, Edmonton’s diverse city and Alberta’s iconic landscapes will provide the perfect backdrop for Canadian sellers and global buyers to make connections and generate business for years to come.”

Explore Edmonton and Travel Alberta will work collaboratively to host more than 1,500 delegates next year.

“Explore Edmonton is beyond excited to be the host city for Rendez-vous Canada in 2024,” says Traci Bednard, President and CEO of Explore Edmonton. “We look forward to showcasing Edmonton and our new tourism offerings to our international travel trade buyers and partners.

“Travel trade is an integral part of our business and as Edmonton rebuilds, we are excited to highlight the city to the world. Edmonton is Canada’s festival city – vibrant, culturally rich and energized – with new experiences like the award-winning Indigenous Peoples Experience at Fort Edmonton Park where visitors and locals make a shared connection to the story of this land. Edmonton is ready to warmly welcome our partners and industry colleagues and build back Canada’s visitor economy together,” continues Bednard.

“With its rich culinary landscape, Indigenous experiences and warm western hospitality, Edmonton is ready, willing and able to host Rendez-Vous Canada 2024 and give visitors and delegates the time of their lives, adds The Honourable Randy Boissonnault, Minister of Tourism and Associate Minister of Finance.

The news of Edmonton being named the official host city of RVC 2024 comes on the heels of the successful completion of RVC 2023 in Québec City.

It’s estimated that RVC 2023 will bring in more than $90 Million in future tourism revenue for the province of Québec. The event featured more than 400 international buyers, exposing each and every province and territory  to opportunities from around the world. Additionally, over 800 Canadian tourism operators from throughout Canada showcased their experiences to global buyers.

“Team Alberta is thrilled to welcome delegates next year to Canada’s wild side, to Canada’s Alberta, for Rendez-vous Canada 2024,” said David Goldstein, CEO of Travel Alberta. “This will be an incredible opportunity for travel professionals from Canada and across the world to experience the unrivaled spirit of adventure offered by Alberta and the warm western hospitality of Albertans.”
