Buyer Selection Criteria

Rendez-vous Canada is a by-invitation-only opportunity for qualified Buyers of Canadian travel products to explore the entire Canadian tourism ecosystem, get inspired, forge new contacts, and strengthen partnerships across Canada’s tourism industry. Here, they’ll get an insider’s perspective on Canadian tourism and where it’s headed, expand their network, learn new and creative ways to experience and market Canada from coast to coast to coast, and return home armed with the tools they need to market and sell Canada with confidence.

Qualified Buyers are invited to attend based on recommendations made by Destination Canada, the Tourism Industry Association of Canada, industry representatives, Sellers participating in Rendez-vous Canada, and by Canadian municipal, provincial and territorial tourism officers.

Invitations to register will be sent to qualified and approved Buyers starting in December 2024. If you have attended Rendez-vous Canada in the past and have not received an invitation to Rendez-vous Canada, please visit the Contact Us section to find the Destination Canada representative in your region.

Selection Criteria for International Buyers

Qualified international Buyers are defined as foreign tour operators and travel wholesalers, packagers, locally based receptive tour operators, Destination Management Companies, and travel agents nominated by Rendez-vous Canada, Destination Canada, the Tourism Industry Association of Canada, provinces, territories, and returning Sellers and DMOs.

To qualify, Buyers must buy either a total Canadian package, or its components to assemble into a total package involving other destinations, for resale overseas, in the US, or in Canada.

Priority will be given to qualified Buyers coming from target markets identified by Destination Canada and the provinces and territories.

Selection Criteria for Canadian Buyers

Qualified Canadian Buyers are defined as: receptive, or inbound tour operators, wholesalers, packagers, and travel agents nominated by Rendez-vous Canada, Destination Canada, the Tourism Industry Association of Canada, provinces and territories, and returning Buyers and DMOs that:

Have a history of developing, packaging, promoting, selling and operating packaged travel for at least three years immediately prior to the date of application for participation in Rendez-vous Canada;
Have operated a minimum of 24 tour departures, or at least 50 touring days, during each of the three 12-month periods immediately preceding the date of application;
Have adequate comprehensive general public liability coverage and professional liability, errors and omissions insurance coverage with reputable insurance underwriting companies;
Follow all applicable laws, rules and regulations and duly qualified and licensed to do business in each jurisdiction which requires such qualification or licensing;
Are based in Canada;
Sell Canadian products in Canada and the international market;
Meet the Selection Criteria for International Buyer.

Canadian Buyers who operate on a national level (buy product in two or more regions of Canada) will be prioritized.

Atlantic Canada: (NB, NL, NS, PE)

Western Canada: (AB, BC, MB, SK)
Northern Canada: (NU, NT, YT)
